PlanMaryland: DNR Will Host Natural Resource Mapping Workshops

To assist with local planning efforts in support of PlanMaryland, Maryland DNR will be hosting a series of regional Natural Resource Mapping Workshops to present and answer questions on valuable resource data layers including:

  • Maryland GreenPrint
  • Climate Impact Areas
  • Other natural resource planning tools

The regional workshops will provide local planners and advocates the chance to meet directly with DNR and other resource specialists on conservation mapping in support of PlanMaryland. At the workshops, planners will hear about how the data was developed, the data use for statewide conservation efforts, what guidance is being developed for these resource areas, and how to communicate these efforts to planning boards and elected officials.

As a reminder the GreenPrint Data can currently be accessed by the following:

  1. GreenPrint ArcGIS Explorer Mapping Application:
    The application works best using the Moxilla Firefox or Safari browser.
  2. MD.State.GreenPrint.2011 Service:
    This data service available through Maryland iMap can be added to your desktop GIS project. The service can be found under the “Environment” folder.
  3. GreenPrint Data:
    The GIS databases are available as a zip file on the above FTP site.
  4. MDP PlanMaryland Mapping Guidance Tool and Guidance Document
